NOT JUST AN OLD SNAIL

Founded in 1927 - yes, I got those numbers the right way round - L'Escargot is the oldest French restaurant in London. Coco Chanel, Princess Diana and Mick Jagger... have all dined at the Soho institution. Snails are obviously the speciality of the house but the full menu spills over with favourites. French but not too fancy, it suits for a special occasion or popping in on the off chance of grabbing a spare table. They also have a buzzing private members club upstairs with a young, artsy crowd so if you want to live and breathe snails - genuinely my favourite food - worth considering joining.
